Video Series: Welcome TO Dalby Farm (intro)

Watch on Youtube or read below:

In 1861 John Dalby settled here in the west end of Scituate MA and built a chicken farm.

Today, over 160 years later, his ancestors (better known as my family)… continue to work the land, but with very different goals.

It was around 2000, I was coming of age and my mom was at a personal crossroads with what to do next. Her babies were needing less of her but she still felt a need to nurture. Call it coincidence, but around this time my mom, Cheryl- came across an article in the Boston Globe about endangered Farm breeds.

This idea was something of a shock to my mom. She had never realized Farm animals went extinct, let alone 1 breed a month? She says to this day she’ll never forget the sense of duty within her to use this land to help combat those numbers.

I dont think we could have known even then, nearly 25 years ago- just how significant this mission would truly become.

I hope you will follow along as I take you through the ups, downs and all arounds of Dalby Farm life here in Scituate MA
